These were the most popular new and used cars, trucks of 2021 in Seatt…
The 2021 Seattle car market was unlike any other as the microchip shortage led to inventory constraints for new and used cars, historic used car price increases, and disappearing incentives and markups over MSRP for new cars.
So which vehicles were the most popular among Seattle drivers this past year? A new report from iSeeCars, an online automotive search engine and research website, looked at 17.4 million means sales in 2021 to find out.
Surprisingly, no, the Subaru Outback did not take the top identify on the list. And what may be already more surprising to metro drivers is that the report found that pickup trucks were the most popular new and used vehicles across the country, and the most popular used means in Seattle.
“The Ford F-150 has been America’s undisputed best-selling new means for over 40 years, and its popularity among new cars makes it popular in the used car market in addition,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “The limited inventory of new pickup trucks led many consumers to buy them used, and despite pickup trucks being among the top sellers, need nevertheless surpassed supply, leading to emotional increases in used car prices.”
While inventory and sales continued to be affected by the microchip shortage, Brauer says that the top-selling cars of 2021 were able to keep similar to those of 2020. Brauer says that automakers were able to prioritize the manufacturing of their best sellers to slightly continue need.
